What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural human response to stressful situations and is one of the ways our bodies keeps us safe. However, anxiety can become problematic when it is excessive, persistent and impacts daily life.

Anxiety symptoms can be physical (rapid heartbeat, sweating, fatigue), emotional (worry, poor concentration, feelings of impending doom) and behavioural (avoiding situations, reassurance seeking).

There are several types of anxiety disorders which all respond to different approaches to treatment.

Anxiety support

How we can help you

If you haven’t seen a mental health professional before, or if previous treatment hasn’t worked, we may suggest a thorough assessment of your symptoms. This will be completed by a consultant psychiatrist who will help you better understand what you are experiencing, including a diagnosis, if this is appropriate.

Our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists and psychologists means we can offer a range of treatments including medications and talking therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and exposure therapy.

We understand how challenging it can be to live with anxiety. Our kind and compassionate team is here to guide you through your treatment journey.

MOAI Hub

Our Bloomsbury clinic is now open

Assessments and therapeutic treatments are available both online at our new MOAI Hub in Bloomsbury. Our new clinical space has been thoughtfully designed to be trauma-informed, neuroaffirmative, and create a calming environment to support your wellbeing.

Frequently asked questions

If you have a question that isn’t listed, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

It’s OK to not know what support would be the most helpful. This is why we offer free 15-minute discovery calls with our clinicians. It’s your chance to discuss what you are experiencing so we can make informed recommendations to help you move forwards.

You will be assessed by a Consultant Psychiatrist. This is a senior mental health doctor who is specially qualified to diagnose a range of mental health conditions.

We offer both in-person and virtual appointments.

In-person appointments are available in central London and virtual appointments are conducted via a secure online link which is sent to you ahead of your appointment.

Following your booking enquiry we aim to see you as soon as it is suitable. We suggest taking some time between your booking enquiry and your assessment to complete your pre-assessment questionnaires.

If you have an assessment with a Consultant Psychiatrist, may be able to tell you at the end of our appointment if you meet the diagnostic criteria for a specific mental health condition.

Following your assessment we will discuss your case with at least one other clinician. This is to ensure the quality of your assessment and to check that they agree with our findings. Once this discussion has taken place we will finalise your report and treatment recommendations.

We aim to get this to you with 2-3 weeks of your assessment.

Yes, our psychiatrists can prescribe medications to treat anxiety. You may hear clinicians talk about ‘medication titration’ – this is the process of gradually adjusting the dosage of medication until maximum therapeutic benefit is achieved. We will work with you to manage this process, after which we can explore a shared care plan with your GP.

At MOAI Health Ltd, we recognise that clients may sometimes need to make changes to their appointments. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we kindly request that you inform us as soon as possible through our contact telephone number 02080898007 or via email at contact-us@moaihealth.app.

We offer our clients the option to cancel or reschedule their appointments at no additional cost, provided that we receive notice at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time.

In the event that less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the following terms and conditions will apply:

Appointments that are cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at 100% of the full fee.

For any inquiries or concerns regarding our appointment cancellation and rescheduling policy, please contact us through our email address provided above.

Our service is unable to support you during a mental health crisis, however we have put together some useful resources so you can access help and support. Read our mental health crisis guide.

Professional and approachable. Moai carried out detailed wellbeing research, working with our staffing body. Every member of the team fedback that the process was insightful and valuable and management noticed a decline in unexplained absence.

We had an excellent experience with MOAI Health when our son underwent an ADHD assessment, and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to other parents. We had become concerned about his concentration and felt that a professional assessment would help us better understand what he was experiencing and, importantly, what we could do to support him. From the outset, the whole process with MOAI Health was extremely professional, efficient and reassuring. The assessment itself was conducted in person by a professional who was excellent with our son. He was made to feel comfortable throughout, and the clinician managed to engage with him in a way that felt straightforward and stress-free. Everything was explained clearly to us, both during the assessment and afterwards, and we came away with a much clearer understanding of our son's needs. The detailed report we received was comprehensive, clearly written and included a range of useful recommendations to help us support our son going forward. It has also been very helpful to share the report with his school, giving them a better understanding of his needs and how they can support him. Overall, we found MOAI Health to be professional, knowledgeable, efficient and genuinely helpful. The whole process was pain-free, and we now have a clear diagnosis together with practical guidance on the next steps. I would certainly recommend MOAI Health to any parent who is considering an ADHD assessment for their child. They made the process straightforward from start to finish and provided us with exactly the clarity and practical advice we were looking for. A thoroughly excellent service.

The clinic has been so very supportive of my daughter who at age 17 was diagnosed with dual form ADHD. Dr Singh and then Dr Davey could not have been more helpful, and have been warm, clinically insightful and professional at all times. Thank you all for your assistance in getting her through her exams and off to her chosen University in London. Your secretarial staff are also excellent!

MOAI has been so incredibly helpful since I have started treatment with them. I had managed to get my diagnosis quickly and have received great support to help manage my mental health. My coaching sessions with Lucy have been amazing and have really helped me find ways to manage my diagnosis. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for support!
