Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult and Older Adult Psychiatry
MB BS BSc (Hons) MRCPsych

Dr Brown is a Consultant Psychiatrist, working at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in addition to his work with MOAI. He specialises in General Adult and Older Adult Psychiatry and graduated from the Maudsley training scheme, holding GMC specialist registration in both General Adult Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry. Dr Brown is also a GMC-accredited trainer and is actively involved in the education and supervision of junior doctors and medical students.

Dr Brown provides assessment and treatment for adults across the age range, including ADHD, autism, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis and cognitive disorders. His special interests include neurodiversity – particularly adult ADHD – and the assessment of complex presentations through detailed, comprehensive psychiatric formulations. He also has a strong interest in addressing social isolation and loneliness in adults, with a particular focus on men’s mental health.

He works in a trauma-informed way and draws on both pharmacological and psychological approaches as appropriate. Patients can expect a collaborative and individualised approach. Dr Brown believes in placing the patient at the centre of care, developing clear formulations and treatment plans together, and ensuring decisions are made jointly. He aims to create a supportive, non-judgemental space where people feel heard and involved in every step of their treatment journey.

Specialisms and areas of interest

Dr Brown’s special interests lie in neurodiversity — particularly adult ADHD — and in the assessment of complex presentations through detailed, comprehensive psychiatric formulations. He is passionate about addressing social isolation and loneliness in adults, with a particular interest in men’s mental health.

MOAI has played a significant role in my personal development this year. Understanding and learning more about my neurodivergence and mental health has been life-changing and I know I will continue to grow and evolve from what I have learned.

I am incredibly grateful to have worked with the team at MOAI. Patrick, Kim, Lucy, and Kirsty have all been fantastic, providing thoughtful, friendly and detailed support throughout my journey. The process has been efficient and well-structured from start to finish, and I am truly grateful for their guidance and encouragement.

Thank you for helping me gain a better understanding of myself and supporting me each step of the way.
